Overview

The idea

Twitchy Server gives Twitchy users a playback source they can run on their own infrastructure. The native app handles the viewing experience and the server handles media delivery.

How it works

Inside the project

Signed HLS playback

A versioned API creates authenticated sessions and serves signed playlists and media segments for supported streams.

Offline media transfer

The server can transfer supported public VODs and clips to the client as MP4 files for offline playback.

Docker deployment

The Go service uses Streamlink and FFmpeg and runs with Docker Compose on a compatible host.

Status and limitations

Requires a compatible self-hosted environment. Availability depends on the upstream service and supported media. Twitchy Server is independent of Twitch.
